Chattanooga Green Schools Action Committee is conducting a pilot environmental education program with the 3rd grade at Calvin Donaldson Environmental Science Academy.
Details:
Stimulus funds will provide access to field trips for students. Teams of college students will also come to the school to teach neighborhood environmental stewards lessons. The idea is for the program to be opened to all 3rd or 4th graders in Hamilton County in Fall 2010.

Calvin Donaldson Environmental Science Academy
Details:
– is partnering with TVA and the Hamilton County Stormwater on construction of a Wetlands project at the school. The project is designed to build a wetland ecosystem that invites educational opportunities for students, protects streams and stormwater management while creating new habitat for animals and plants. Plans have been finalized and construction should begin in February with students and volunteers planting the wetland plants in March.

Goodwill will be doing disability awareness education. Hamilton (the service dog in training sponsored by Hamilton County Schools) or Jerry (a fully trained service dog) will share their success stories and abilities with students. The lessons are part of the district’s character education program and lessons.
