Google

Web services and unlimited cloud storage for Hamilton County Schools (HCS) students and teachers.

What is HCS Google?

HCS Google is the district’s G Suite for Education domain. Google offers its wildly popular G Suite platform to education entities free of charge. With the HCS Google platform, we’re able to provide our teachers and students with unlimited Google Drive storage, access to Google Classroom, and a host of other powerful Google services. HCS utilizes Google Workspace (docs, sheets, slides, etc.) and additional Google Services, including but not limited to, Earth, Maps, News, Translate, and YouTube. All Google Services are moderated for age appropriateness and content. Access is granted or restricted according to Google age recommendations.

Chromebooks and The One-to-One Initiative

Hamilton County Schools operates a “One Student to One Device” program for all students in all grades. High school and middle school students are assigned a device and take it home with them. A device is provided for every elementary student, but the device remains in the school. This technology integration in the classroom will meet our students’ individual needs and introduce them to a world of possibilities by enhancing our curriculum through communication, collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking. It turns our students into creators instead of consumers on their education journey.

This program works in conjunction with a learning management system (LMS) called “Canvas” and online digital curriculum resources, many of which are linked though Canvas or through our ClassLink Launchpad application. Each student has links to their individual resources through this ClassLink dashboard. Students must use their district provided username and password to access these resources.
