The Student Supports Department is committed to making sure every student feels safe, supported, and valued so they can grow academically, behaviorally, emotionally, and socially. We work together with families, educators, and community partners to provide clear, consistent, and caring support for the whole child. By listening to students, strengthening educator capacity, and responding to evolving needs in real time, we foster a unified system of support that promotes belonging, resilience, and lifelong success.
Our Approach
Our department brings together a broad range of services and programs designed to support the whole child. This includes academic advising, behavioral interventions, mental health services, and assistance for students experiencing housing instability, truancy, or involvement with the juvenile legal system. We also lead efforts to build staff capacity in fostering school cultures grounded in anti-discrimination, belonging, joy, and high expectations. Whether a student is attending the Vaping Institute, enrolled at the Washington Alternative Learning Center, preparing for the HiSET exam, or seeking a hardship transfer, our team is here—and eager—to help. By streamlining services and equipping the adults who support our students, we aim to create more inclusive, responsive, and supportive learning environments across the district.
