Start your child’s learning journey! The 26-27 kindergarten registration opens March 30 for our newest little learners!
We are excited to welcome you and your new student to the Hamilton County School District. Below you will find enrollment dates and information that will help you navigate the online enrollment system for your kindergarten student.
For students enrolling in kindergarten, Board Policy 6.201 stipulates that the student must be 5 years old by August 15th of the current school year to be eligible for enrollment in a kindergarten program. If it is found that a student’s birthdate falls after this cutoff date, the student will be disenrolled immediately.

Kindergarten Registration Requirements:
Early Entry Kindergarten
Per TN State Law, to be eligible to enter kindergarten for the upcoming school year, children must be five years of age by August 15. If your child turns five between August 16 and September 30 and you would like Hamilton County Schools to consider early entry for your child, you may complete an Early Entry Admission Application.
Completion of this application does not guarantee early entrance to Kindergarten. HCS does not advise parents to cancel any current daycare or Pre-K enrollment during the application process.
Application Window: May 3, 2027-May 28, 2027
Families may pick up an application at Hamilton County Schools Central Office (3074 Claude Ramsey Parkway, Chattanooga, TN, 37421). Applications will not be available before May 3, 2027. The deadline for application submission is May 28, 2027. The application and all requested documents must be included to be considered. Late applications will not be accepted.
