Chattanooga, Tenn. Jane Hill, social studies teacher at Hunter Middle School, will present at the Tennessee Council for the Social Studies (TCSS) 2026 Conference in Memphis, TN, on February 26–27.

Her session, Women & the American Story, will talk about expanding historical narratives by using diverse primary and secondary sources to better reflect women’s contributions throughout U.S. history. Drawing from her experience as a Women & the American Story (WAMS) Ambassador with the New-York Historical, Hill’s presentation will provide educators with examples of how to use resources to diversify classroom instruction, highlight the achievements of women from diverse backgrounds, and offer a more inclusive and accurate portrayal of our nation’s past. She will also speak about best practices for implementation, explore strategies for researching additional resources, and engage with attendees in reflection and discussion around meaningful content connections.

Hill has more than 25 years in education, is a member of Hamilton County Schools’ Social Studies Leadership Committee, and is a dedicated mentor to fellow educators. Her leadership and knowledge at Hunter Middle School strengthens collaboration and instructional alignment across grade levels. Hill’s presentation at the TCSS Conference marks her first time presenting at the state level. She is excited to share her work with educators from across Tennessee, reconnect with fellow teachers and committee members, and bring new ideas and resources back to Hunter Middle School.

We are incredibly proud of Jane for representing her school and the district on the state stage and for her commitment to enriching social studies education!
